Tilak Junior College of Science and Commerce (“TJ College”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), operated under the Khadki Education Society, Pune, provides the TJ College mobile application (the “App”) as a learning management tool for students, teachers, and college administrators.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

When you use the TJ College App, we may collect the following information:

Account Information: Full name, email address, and role (student/teacher/principal) provided during registration.
Academic Information: Department, class/section, roll number, attendance records, and timetable data.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and push notification tokens for delivering notifications.
Usage Data: Login timestamps, feature usage patterns, and interaction with announcements and messages.
Communications: Messages sent through the in-app messaging and community features.

We use the collected information to:

Provide and maintain the App’s core features including attendance tracking, timetable management, announcements, and messaging.
Send push notifications for announcements, messages, and important academic updates.
Authenticate users and manage role-based access to features.
Generate attendance reports for academic purposes.
Improve the App’s functionality and user experience.

  1. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored securely using Google Firebase services with industry-standard encryption.
Database access is governed by role-based security rules ensuring students, teachers, and administrators can only access information relevant to their role.
We implement technical safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction of data.

  1. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:

Within the institution: Teachers can view attendance of their assigned classes. The principal has administrative access for academic management.
Service providers: We use Google Firebase for data storage and Expo for push notification delivery. These services process data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

  1. Push Notifications

The App sends push notifications for:

College announcements from the principal
New messages in direct conversations and community groups
Important academic updates
You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

  1. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for college-level students (typically 16 years and older), teachers, and administrators. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.

  1. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Academic records (attendance, reports) are retained for the duration required by institutional policies. You may request deletion of your account by contacting the college administration.

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Opt out of push notifications

The App uses the following third-party services:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Hosting)
Expo (Push Notifications, Over-the-Air Updates)

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
